Location or GPS is not working

If your ride logs 0 km, the map does not follow you, or your dot freezes when the screen turns off, it is a location permission or a battery setting. Do the two steps below first, then apply the steps for your phone brand.

Before you start

RideClan needs Location set to Always and needs to be exempt from battery optimization so it keeps tracking while the phone is locked on the bike.

    Grant Location Always. Open your phone Settings, find RideClan, tap Location, and choose Allow all the time plus Use precise location. While using the app only stops tracking once the screen is off.

    Turn off battery optimization. In Settings, find RideClan, open Battery, and set it to Unrestricted (or Do not optimize). This stops the system from pausing tracking in your pocket.

Phone-brand steps (Android)

Many Android phones, especially popular models in India, add their own aggressive battery manager on top of Android. You have to allow RideClan to run in the background and auto-start, or it gets killed mid-ride. Find your brand below. Exact menu names vary slightly by model and software version.

Realme (realme UI)

Settings, then Battery, then App battery management, then RideClan: turn on Allow background activity and Allow auto launch. Also open Settings, then App management, then RideClan and turn on Auto-start. In Recent apps, pull the RideClan card down and lock it.

Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO (MIUI or HyperOS)

Settings, then Apps, then Manage apps, then RideClan: turn on Autostart and set Battery saver to No restrictions. Then open Settings, then Battery, then App battery saver and set RideClan to No restrictions. In Recent apps, pull the RideClan card down and tap the lock so it is not cleared.

Oppo (ColorOS)

Settings, then Battery, then RideClan: turn on Allow background activity. Then Settings, then App management, then RideClan and turn on Auto launch and Allow associated launch. Lock the RideClan card in Recent apps.

Vivo and iQOO (Funtouch OS or OriginOS)

Settings, then Battery, then Background power consumption management, then allow RideClan to run in the background. Then Settings, then More settings, then Permission management, then Autostart and turn RideClan on. Lock the RideClan card in Recent apps.

Samsung (One UI)

Settings, then Apps, then RideClan, then Battery: set it to Unrestricted. Then Settings, then Battery, then Background usage limits and make sure RideClan is not listed under Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps. Turn off Put unused apps to sleep if it keeps re-adding RideClan.

If it does not work

If GPS still drops after all of this, ride with the RideClan screen on for one trip to confirm tracking works while foregrounded. If it works foregrounded but not with the screen off, the phone battery manager is still killing it. Email us your exact phone model and software version and we will send the precise menu path.
