Share a live-follow link with family
Applies to: Android and iPhone
Before you start
Live-follow is opt-in. Nobody sees your location until you start the share and send the link yourself. You need a connection so your position keeps updating on the web map.
- 1
Start a ride. Begin the ride you want to share.
- 2
Start the live-follow share. Tap the live-follow share option to generate the link for this ride.
- 3
Send the link. Share it with family or a friend by message or any app you like.
- 4
They follow on the web. They open the link in a browser, no app needed, and see your dot, speed, and destination on a live map.
- 5
It ends with the ride. When you end the ride, the link stops updating and following stops.
If it does not work
If the follower sees a stale position, check that your ride is still running and that your phone has signal. The link is tied to one ride, so a link from a previous ride will no longer track you. Start a new share on your current ride and send the fresh link.
FAQ
Do they need the app?
No. The live-follow link opens a web map in any browser, so family can follow without installing anything.
Does the link keep working after the ride?
No. The link is per-ride and consent-based. It stops when the ride ends, so it cannot be used to track you later.
What can they see?
Your live dot, your speed, and your destination for that ride. Nothing more.
