Ride. Progress is worked out from your recorded rides, so there is nothing to tick off by hand. It recalculates every time you look.

Check where you stand. Standings show how you compare with other riders on the same challenge.
Two kinds of challenge
A distance challenge adds up kilometres, so a 5 km ride contributes 5 km and everything counts. A ride count challenge counts rides, and there it has a minimum distance so that a hop to the shops is not a "ride". The floor is 50 km on most challenges, and each challenge can set its own, so a commuter goal might use 10 km and a long-distance one more.
Why a ride you did might not have counted
If a ride count challenge is not moving, check the ride was longer than that challenge's minimum distance. This was a deliberate change: ten trivial rides used to complete a "10 rides this month" challenge, which made it worth nothing to the riders who earned it properly. Progress is recalculated from your history each time it is read, so the fix applied to past rides too.
Challenges reset every month, but your history is kept
Each month brings a fresh set. What you finished is archived rather than deleted, so a rider who rode 500 km in September still has it on record in October. Near misses are kept as well, shown as something like 412 of 500 km, because that is a more honest record of a season than only listing the wins.
Badges reward repetition, not one heroic day
The long-distance badges used to ladder off your single longest ride, so one 800 km day unlocked four rungs at once. They now count how many times you have done a long ride, so the ladder reflects a habit rather than one afternoon. The other badges are unchanged: total distance, number of rides, destinations explored, and riding in consecutive weeks.
Annual standings
At the end of each calendar year the top three riders are crowned for your country and globally. The current year is live and moves as people ride. Finished years are frozen exactly as they stood, so a champion crowned under one year's rules stays crowned even after the rules change.
FAQ
Do I need Pro for challenges?
Joining a challenge and tracking your own progress are always free. Standings against other riders are part of Pro, and they are included free during the launch rollout.
My challenge progress went down. Why?
On a ride count challenge, only rides that clear the challenge's minimum distance count. When that rule came in, counts re-scored to qualifying rides only, which is the intended behaviour rather than lost data.
Does one very long ride earn a lot of badges?
Not any more. Long-distance badges count how often you ride far, not how far your single biggest ride was.
What if my country is not set?
Set your country on your profile, otherwise you can be left out of your country's standings while still appearing in the global one.
