Is there an app like Strava for motorcycles?

Last updated: 2026-09-21

Short answer: yes and no. Strava itself was built for pedal power and does not have motorcycle mode. But if what you like about Strava is the recorded rides, stats, leaderboards and shared routes with your riding buddies, RideClan is the motorcycle-first equivalent - and adds the things Strava was never asked to do, like live group tracking and SOS.

What Strava does well - and where it stops for motorcyclists

Strava logs your activity, gives you distance/pace/elevation, tracks segments, and puts you on leaderboards with people you know. It is excellent at that, for running and cycling.

For motorcycles, three things break: it has no motorcycle activity type in most markets, its segments are pedal-powered, and it has no way to keep a group of five bikes on one live map. The workaround riders use - logging a motorcycle ride as "e-bike" or "ride" - dilutes both leaderboards.

What a motorcycle-first version looks like

RideClan records every ride automatically with speed, elevation and the full route, stitches multi-day tours into one Trip page, and puts you on a leaderboard with your city and your riding clubs. Where it differs from Strava is that it does all of this while also being a full navigation and group-ride app - the record is a byproduct of actually riding, not the point.

What Strava does not do, that RideClan does

  • Live group tracking. Everyone on one live map, per-rider turn-by-turn, an assembly point, separation alerts.
  • Group SOS. One hold sends your live location to the whole ride.
  • Family live-share. One link and the people at home can follow your ride from any browser - no app.
  • Background navigation and recording. Screen off, in your pocket, still guiding and still logging.
  • GPX export. Free in RideClan; Strava also does this.

What RideClan does not do, that Strava does

Strava has years of social gravity - a big user base, a segment library, and a stack of third-party integrations (Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift). RideClan is newer and smaller. If your friends live on Strava and you want to compare rides with them, you can export GPX from RideClan and import into Strava.

Frequently asked

Is there an app like Strava for motorcycles?

For the record-your-ride + stats + leaderboards + share-with-friends part of Strava, yes - RideClan does all of that with a motorcycle-first UI. It also adds live group tracking and SOS, which Strava has never had.

Can I use Strava for motorcycle rides?

You can log a motorcycle ride, but Strava has no motorcycle activity type in most markets and its segments are pedal-powered. A dedicated motorcycle app records the ride more accurately.

Does RideClan track motorcycle stats?

Yes - distance, top speed, average speed, elevation gain and the full route. Multi-day tours combine into one Trip page.

Can I export my motorcycle rides to Strava?

Yes. RideClan exports GPX for free, and Strava accepts GPX uploads.

Is RideClan free?

Yes, on iPhone and Android. Ride recording, group rides, SOS, and GPX export are all in the free tier.
